Social media reacts to questionable call that costs South Carolina a TD against Clemson
Clemson and South Carolina are locked in a tight one this afternoon.
The Tigers opened the game with a quick 14-0 lead after the 1st quarter, but the Gamecocks responded with a TD drive and then looked like they might have tied it with a defensive touchdown. But the officials had other ideas.
Facing a 2nd-and-3 from their own 43, the Tigers appeared to throw a backwards pass that was scooped by South Carolina and returned to the end zone.

The officials, however, ruled that it was an incomplete pass and not a fumble, keeping Clemson’s 7-point lead intact

Whether or not the pass is backwards, officials shouldn't blow the whistle when the defense recovers and is returning just in case.

I’m not surprised. If the refs can, they will give the game to Clemson. We saw it earlier in the year on the obvious late hit out of bounds calls that’s completely contradicted each other.

Backwards pass call and a missed pick-six opportunity could have the #Gamecocks up a score right now.
They wouldn't show the replay at Clemson, so I never had a second look. But, on my first view, it looked backwards to me.
