South Carolina has lost one of its top assistants for the 2020 season.

According to Chip Brown of 247Sports, Gamecocks linebackers coach and special teams coordinator Coleman Hutzler is leaving to fill the same roles at Texas. He has been at South Carolina the past four seasons.

There had been reports that Hutzler was a candidate to join Tom Herman’s staff at Texas, and The Big Spur is now confirming that a deal has been finalized.

Hutzler was previously an assistant at San Diego (2006), Stanford (2007-09), Florida (2010-11, 2014), New Mexico (2012-13) and Boston College (2015).

Hutzler played as a linebacker at Middlebury College from 2002-05.

Todd Orlando was previously Texas’ linebackers coach and Derek Warehime had been the Longhorns’ special teams coordinator, so Hutzler is taking over their jobs for the 2020 season. Orlando went to Texas Tech and Warehime left for New Mexico.
