During South Carolina’s 81-68 loss to Florida on Tuesday night, the ESPNU cameras captured Gamecocks coach Frank Martin giving freshman Jalyn McCreary a push/shove on his way to the scorer’s table to check into the game.

Viewer @CoopaLoop1185 captured and tweeted what has become a widely viewed video (below).

After the game, Martin didn’t seem worried. In his postgame press conference, Martin offered an explanation and a joke about how he’ll handle the situation in the future.

“Are you talking about when I told him to check in the game and there’s a 30-second timeout and he was like walking and I kind of shoved him to go to the table?” Martin said to a reporter. “That’s exactly what happened. So people are mad? That’s what happened.

“Maybe next time I’ll hug him and carry him and put him at the table and say, ‘Please, tell him you’re checking in the game.’”

South Carolina, now 8-6 overall and 0-1 in SEC play, looks to get back on track Saturday at Tennessee.
