South Carolina cancels 2019 road game against non-conference foe
The South Carolina Gamecocks made the decision to cancel an upcoming non-conference road game on Tuesday afternoon.
According to East Carolina AD Jeff Compher, South Carolina won’t travel to Greenville to take on the Pirates in 2019:
"South Carolina will not be coming here in 2019. The contract calls for a $1 million payment for cancellation"

Cancelling the game will result in a $1 million penalty for the Gamecocks, and it is unclear what South Carolina plans to do with the open date on the 2019 schedule.
The Gamecocks and Pirates are scheduled to play in Columbia in 2020 and in Greenville in 2021. The status of those two games is uncertain at this point.
The Gamecocks earned a narrow 20-15 win over ECU at Williams-Brice Stadium in 2016.
