South Carolina fan loses control expressing his anger towards Will Muschamp's coaching
Callers to sports talk radio shows sometimes reveal the most passionate fans from a given fan base. In this case with South Carolina, a caller named John released his frustrations on 107.5 The Game about coach Will Muschamp following the 38-24 loss to Florida on Saturday to drop to 0-2 on the season.
John opened the call comparing the athletics departments at Mississippi State and South Carolina, and asked a rhetorical question about the Gamecocks being in a similar spot in the SEC pecking order. John then pointed out that Mississippi State under Dan Mullen in Year 6 was ranked No. 1 in the College Football Playoff rankings.
“Next year is Will’s sixth year at South Carolina, if he gets one,” the caller continued. “Do you honestly think there’s any chance in hell that South Carolina is going to be ranked when the first Playoff rankings come out next season?”
A host, Jay Phillips, said he’d be very surprised.
“OK, then why are we still doing this,” John replied.
In Year 5, John said it looks like South Carolina is in either Year 1 or going backwards.
“It doesn’t look like we’re making any progress as far as winning and losing is concerned,” John continued. “You just said it yourself, it’s a results-oriented business, we’re not getting the results. Year 5 under (Steve) Spurrier, we’re in Atlanta. Year 5 of this year a lot of people are asking are we even going to win a game.”
John then went on to take a shot at Athletics Director Ray Tanner as his voice raised.
“If you feel good about where this program is right now, you need your head examined, and you certainly don’t need to be the AD,” he said. “Because any other idiot would tell you this is not good.”
John was VERY upset after Carolina’s 38-24 loss to Florida.

Spoke the truth
But it only matters when the Athletic Director & the President of SC are thinking this way.
I don’t see any reason how Muschump is the coach at SC next year. Unless of course he pulls off a back to back “Dubbya at Uggla” they may keep him one more year.
Muschamp is here until at least next year.
As most all athletic departments are, we’re running a close to $50M deficit.
Muschamp’s buyout right now is in the $10-13M range
We’re stuck with him for at least a year…
Or two
Yep. Meanwhile boosters with money to burn would rather put up a useless chicken statue. That thing cost a million bucks. Cleary more than a million would be needed to buy him out, but it is the principle of the matter: Spend a bunch of money on something that accomplishes nothing. Could some of these dolts at least have a conversation about raising the money for a buyout?
Bs. He gotta go.
Just being funny, but their trying to figure how to pay to put spurs on that dadgum thing
If you would not have given that disclaimer, I probably would have believed that was real because it sounds ridiculous enough to be real.
Yep.
AD made a bad contract for a coach nobody wanted. Do they really have a 2 minute offense, or was that just an excuse for game 1? Special Teams looks like they have never practiced before. Those skipped practices are showing. No money, SC is stuck with Muschamp for a few more years…unless he gets another ridiculous extension.
I’m surprised 107.5 released tweeted and accepted that call.
They’re typically pro Muschimp propaganda.
The cracks in the dam are leaking and getting bigger each game lost. A win against Vandy will not relieve the pressure. I hope two future vacant seats will be filled in the head football and AD offices.
BTW, my hat is off to John for calling 107.5.
Dude is on point. Fire Tanner and Chump. Now please.
