South Carolina fans lament bleak outlook ahead of Palmetto Bowl
South Carolina is set to be a significant underdog next week when the Gamecocks travel to Clemson hoping to avoid their first five-game losing streak in the series.
Only one game in the recent streak has been reasonably close, as Clemson’s won 34-10, 56-7, 37-32 and 35-17. When the game time and television network was announced, several South Carolina fans gave an immediate reaction to what appears to them as a tall order to pull the upset.
One already predicted a “third” blowout under coach Will Muschamp, while another suggested team forfeit the game to avoid injuries.
One person suggested there hasn’t been this kind of reaction leading up to the game since 1989, when Clemson ultimately won 45-0 in Columbia.
It’s well known that Clemson has had two one-loss seasons under coach Dabo Swinney. But Gamecock fans may take heart that Clemson hasn’t had an undefeated season since 1981, and South Carolina is capable of delivering the kind of performance a Syracuse or Pittsburgh did in recent years with wins over the Tigers.
If we don’t show up we only lose 2-0. Cover the spread and prevent injuries

Not sure I have seen this kind of reaction towards to Carolina-clemson series before. Pretty much no hope from any Gamecock. In years past at least there was some hope from someone, even if unrealistic. Then again, Twitter didn't exist in 89 after Ellis was out for the year

This will be Muschamp’s 3rd blow out vs Clemson. Doesn’t a program headed in the right direction eventually start making it a competitive game? Hell every loss is a blow out now that I think about it. He’s awful
