South Carolina reached into Alabama and used some family ties to secure a big commitment on Thursday.
Jake Bentley, a four-star prospect rated as the No. 6 pro-style QB in the Class of 2017 according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, announced his pledge to the Gamecocks on Twitter.
Bentley is the son of South Carolina running backs coach Bobby Bentley.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder from Opelika, Ala., chose South Carolina over several other SEC schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Georgia, LSU and Vanderbilt as well as many other elite programs.
The Crimson Tide offered Bentley on March 8, the same day he took an unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa.
