South Carolina picked up its second commitment of the Class of 2022 on Thursday when it landed an offensive lineman out of metro Atlanta.

Shane Beamer’s program got a commitment from Grayson Mains of Suwanee, Georgia (Lambert), who is a 3-star recruit and listed at 6-foot-5 and 265 pounds. He is rated the No. 62 offensive tackle in the class, and No. 64 player in the state of Georgia, according to the 247Sports Composite.

“I’ve been dreaming about this day since I was a kid!,” he wrote on social media. “… Coach Beamer and Coach Adkins are starting something special that I want to be apart of.”

He also thanked his family and coaches.

“They have always been there for me to help me with all the decisions, and to help me make one of the biggest decisions in my life,” he wrote.

He picked the Gamecocks over Tennessee and Michigan State. Mains visited Tennessee and South Carolina last weekend, reported Lou Bezjak and Phil Kornblut.

“Being on campus really just stuck it to me,” Mains said. “It felt like home being there, seeing everything in person, not just on a virtual visit. It was just great to be there and it felt like home.”
