South Carolina made a big-time addition in the transfer portal on Saturday evening.

The Gamecocks picked up a commitment from former Pitt linebacker Bangally Kamara. He figures to slot into South Carolina’s defense as a major contributor in 2024.

Here’s his announcement:

Kamara spent 4 seasons with Pitt before entering the transfer portal. He was a significant contributor for the program in each of the past 2 campaigns.

Last season with the Panthers, Kamara recorded a career-high 6.5 tackles for loss. He was also credited with 55 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 pass deflection and 1 fumble recovery.

This is South Carolina’s second transfer commitment in as many days. On Friday, the Gamecocks earned a pledge from former Miami (Ohio) receiver Gage Larvadain. Overall, South Carolina has 13 transfer commits so far this offseason.

South Carolina has been very active in the portal to this point in the offseason. Its transfer class currently ranks in the top 10 nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Kamara has 1 year of eligibility remaining.
