South Carolina is coming off an impressive 7-6 season in Year 1 under coach Shane Beamer. Now, the Gamecocks are working toward improving on that in 2022.

However, on Monday, they lost a defender to the transfer portal, according to a report.

Per Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports, freshman LB Kolbe Fields will explore his transfer options before next season:

As Zenitz mentioned in the above tweet, Fields was committed to Oklahoma State and Memphis before eventually heading to South Carolina. So, those schools figure to be 2 to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.

Fields appeared in 4 games in 2021, recording his only tackle of the season against Florida.
