South Carolina makes final 3 for 2021 Georgia LB/DE, former SEC commit
After backing off his pledge to an SEC West program, Lowndes High School (Valdosta, Georgia) standout Thomas Davis could be committing to an SEC East program next month.
The Peach State product recently named a top three of South Carolina, Florida State and Miami. Davis committed to Mississippi State on April 18, 2020 but backed off that pledge less than two months later (June 8). All three finalists extended scholarship offers after his initial commitment, with FSU’s offer being the most recent (June 29).
Davis is listed at over 6-2 and 235 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, he is rated 3-stars, the No. 50 weak-side defensive end (he is also listed as an outside linebacker), No. 76 recruit in Georgia and No. 867 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2021. He has 14 total scholarship offers, with Arkansas, Cincinnati and Indiana among the teams outside his top 3. Davis is set to announce his commitment on Aug. 24, per his 247Sports profile.
Davis was recognized as the Region 1-7A Defensive Player of the Year in 2019 after recording 45 total tackles (31 solo), 16.5 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks and 9 hurries. His highlights from that season can be viewed below, via Hudl:
