South Carolina picks up commitment from Maryland LB, highest-rated pledge under Shane Beamer
South Carolina got some big news on Saturday when Jaishawn Barham verbally committed to the Gamecocks. Barham’s pledge to the Gamecocks came as somewhat of a surprise as multiple 247Sports recruiting experts had submitted Crystal Ball predictions Saturday that Barham would stay in state and commit to Maryland.

Listed at 6-3, 230 pounds, Barham is rated 4-stars, the No. 3 Maryland product, No. 8 linebacker and No. 108 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2022 on the 247Sports Composite, making him Shane Beamer’s highest-rated Gamecock commitment. The St. Frances Academy standout picked up 23 scholarship offers during his recruitment, including Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.
