South Carolina QB Ryan Hilinski praises top CB tandem Jaycee Horn and Israel Mukuamu

The South Carolina Gamecocks have one of the best cornerback tandems in the SEC in Israel Mukuamu and Jaycee Horn.
Both are getting buzz as potential Round 1 draft picks in 2021, so it’s safe to say they’re no fun for QB Ryan Hilinski and others to go up against during practice.
Still, this week, Hilinski said he enjoys the challenge of facing off against the 2 elite defenders, who are close both on and off the field (via 247Sports):
“It’s iron against iron. We’re sharpening each other,” Hilinski said when asked about facing those two defenders. “Those guys are ridiculous. They are long, quick, know what they are doing, and they are best friends, which is the coolest part about it. They like to talk a little bit. If I’m under center and Izzy on the field and Jaycee might be taking a play off, I hear Jaycee telling Izzy to get a pick. They are guys that bring great energy, which is a compliment to them being every greater players.”
We’ll see if working against those guys in practice helps Hilinski take a big step forward as a sophomore this fall. He’ll need to work some new receivers into the mix after losing Bryan Edwards to the NFL.
On the other side of the ball, Mukuamu and Horn are sure to make things uncomfortable for opposing quarterbacks and receivers.
