South Carolina earned perhaps its biggest signing of the Shane Beamer era on February 1, 2023 with the stroke of a pen from 5-star ATH Nyckoles Harbor.
Harbor was listed as an Edge prospect coming out of high school, though it’s been assumed for some time that he will suit up as a tight end/wide receiver for the Gamecocks. On Sunday, South Carolina’s media guide released prior to SEC Media Days confirmed that notion, listing him as a wide receiver.
The guide also listed Harbor at 6-5, 241 pounds, which is around 15 pounds heavier than he was when he signed with the Gamecocks in February, per 247Sports.
NFL legend Calvin Johnson, for reference, played at 6-5, 237 pounds.

Harbor will also officially wear No. 8 for the Gamecocks, his number at the All-America game.

Harbor is very likely to make a difference in Year 1 in Columbia. How much of a difference? That much is to be determined, but his ceiling is as high as any freshman in the country.
He was ranked as the No. 15 overall prospect in the nation and the No. 1 overall athlete coming out of Archbishop Carroll HS in Washington D.C.
