Another Gamecock is leaving Columbia.

According to On3’s Matt Zenitz, South Carolina starting pass rusher Gilber Edmond has entered the transfer portal. Edmond now becomes the 10th Gamecock to enter the portal since their season finale win over Clemson.

A 1-year starter, Edmond played in 10 games this past fall. He recorded 39 total tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 9 quarterback pressures, and 2 sacks. In 3 seasons, he totaled 44 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks.

A redshirt sophomore, Edmond will have 2 years of eligibility left at his next program. A former 3-star recruit from Fort Pierce, Florida, Edmond also held offers from Central Michigan, USF, Florida Atlantic and Western Kentucky, and several other smaller schools.

The Gamecocks continue to lose top talent via the portal after finishing 8-4 under 2nd-year coach Shane Beamer. Most notably, both tight end Jahiem Bell and running back Marshawn Lloyd elected to leave despite being focal points of USC’s offense.

Bell has already committed to Florida State while Lloyd will continue to weigh his options. Other players who have entered the portal include receiver Corey Rucker, tight end Austin Stogner, linebacker Darryle Ware, offensive lineman Jordan Davis,  and defensive backs Tyrese Ross, Joey Hunter, and R.J. Roderick.

The Gamecocks are set to take on No. 21 Note Dame in the Taxslayer Gator Bowl on Dec. 30 at 3:30 E.T. The game will be televised on ESPN.
