Great news to report for a future Gamecock as four-star wide receiver OrTre Smith reportedly underwent successful ankle surgery today, per Gene Sapakoff of the Charleston Post and Courier:

Smith (6-foot-3, 215 pounds), who committed to South Carolina back in September, is the No. 15 player at his position for the 2017 recruiting class and serves as the state’s top-ranked prospect, per 247Sports.
A U.S. Army All-American, Smith had 84 catches for 1,364 yards and 18 touchdowns as a junior in 2015. He chose the Gamecocks over Clemson, Georgia and North Carolina.
Will Muschamp’s 2017 class currently boasts 20 total commits and ranks 15th nationally (7th in the SEC).
