South Carolina’s basketball team would’ve had an awesome weekend even if its NCAA Tournament run ended on Sunday like the experts predicted. Instead, not only did the No. 7 seed Gamecocks get their first win in the NCAA Tournament since 1973, but they also followed it up by upsetting No. 2 seed Duke to move on to the Sweet 16.

After the win, the Gamecock faithful, and most of America, took to Twitter to ridicule the Blue Devils, one of the perpetual villains in all of sports.

No one beat the official account from the University of South Carolina, however:

That link, of course, leads to a giant billboard of Duke’s L.

The resident underdog story of SEC hoops won not only the game but also Twitter. On the way, the Gamecocks may have also won the hearts of many SEC fans that sympathized with the Gamecocks’ David vs. Goliath struggle. With three teams in the Sweet 16, it’s worth asking the question: Is the SEC a basketball conference now?
