South Carolina hosted the No. 1 basketball team in the country Saturday in Kentucky, but Steve Spurrier stole the spotlight.

Gamecocks football finished up a disappointing year last month after three consecutive 11-win seasons and a lofty preseason ranking. With talk of Spurrier potentially retiring at some point in the near future, a sparkling recruiting class has shown signs of instability.

Spurrier, always entertaining with a microphone in front of him, leveraged a nationally-televised ESPN game Saturday to generate some buzz for his football team, including a TV interview and a chance to address the crowd (and recruits) at halftime.
