Steve Spurrier jabs Florida State, addresses Muschamp rumors
South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier spoke with local media Sunday night after the SEC announced its bowl lineup.
The Gamecocks (6-6) will take on Miami (6-6) in the Duck Commander Independence Bowl on Dec. 27 in Shreveport, South Carolina’s seventh consecutive trip to the postseason. The Head Ball Coach was sure to send a jab Florida State’s way in prep for the Hurricanes:
Steve Spurrier: "Miami is another team that almost beat FSU this year. Gotta be what? Seven or eight of those that almost beat FSU."

Spurrier said Shreveport is a nice city and hopes his team can play better than the last time they were there. Lost 38-31 to Mizzou in 2005.

Spurrier says he's played Miami one time while he was at Florida in 2000- in the sugar bowl, the yr Miami finished #2 in the nation.

Steve Spurrier: "We will look forward to seeing those guys and having a little fellowship with the Duck Dynasty guys."

Spurrier also addressed last week’s erroneous report of Will Muschamp’s hire at South Carolina as imminent, dismissing previous claims that the Gamecocks have agreed in principle with the former Gators coach as their new defensive coordinator.
“All of our coaches are under contract for this year,” Spurrier said. “Unless they find another job somewhere, we’re all status quo until whatever happens, happens. When the bowl games over, we’ll see where we’re at. If we need to add or not add, we’ll do it then.”
Spurrier on Will Muschamp: "Read where Auburn and Texas A&M have offered him jobs. Haven’t read where we’ve offered him anything."
