Orth was listed as a co-starter along with freshman Brandon McIlwain entering fall camp. The redshirt senior and former walk-on made eight starts in 2015 and completed 143 of 261 passes for 1,929 yards, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions, while rushing for 138 yards and two scores on 53 attempts.
As of last week, even Orth claimed he didn’t know who would start for the Gamecocks.
“Yep, still going back and forth,” Orth told the Greenville News following USC’s Friday morning practice. “I guess they’re still waiting to make a decision. I think they’ll make it either the night before the game or the day of the game. I guess we’ll find out.”
