South Carolina took down Tennessee 15-9 in an ugly game full of field goals on Saturday in Knoxville.

The Gamecocks may have had a bit of added bulletin board material coming into the game as one of the Volunteers’ pass-catchers was spouting off on Twitter earlier in the week.

“I just spent 30 mins trying to book a flight to ‘Fenton island’ no air line recognized that destination I guess it doesn’t exist,” Tennessee wide receiver Byrd tweeted on Thursday in regards to the notion that Gamecocks’ cornerback Rashad Fenton was a lockdown corner.

Fenton responded after the game to Byrd’s trash talk. He was asked by a reporter if it gave South Carolina any extra motivation coming into the game.

“At first it did,” Fenton said. “Everybody was just talking about it. But at the end of the day you’ve got to come on the field and actually perform.

“It’s just funny because he didn’t even play today. That’s kind of amazing.”

Indeed, Byrd was nowhere to be found in the stat column. Fenton had three tackles in the game.

Byrd responded to a tweet from Fenton after the game. He seemed to realize he was wrong earlier in the week.

Don’t worry I am swim back to shore plane crashed on the way over to island 😂😂😂
