South Carolina’s spring practice is already underway, and with it, the Gamecocks get their first look at freshman QB Ryan Hilinksi.
The early enrollee is competing for the backup QB job with teammates Dakereon Joyner and Jay Urich. Although Jake Bentley is the established starter, Will Muschamp has assured the young trio that they will receive first-team reps in an attempt to develop a backup.
Hilinski was a touted prospect from Orange, California, and one particular throw Friday was the perfect example why. On a bad snap from the center, Hilinski calmly handled it and threw a perfect strike to WR Bryan Edwards streaking down the sideline. The most impressive part of the pass was that Hilinski basically flicked his wrist, and it was on the money.
