Welcome back to the hot seat, Will: Gamecock fans upset with total meltdown on Rocky Top
It started off great, and then crumbled from there.
South Carolina fans grew increasingly frustrated with the Gamecocks after they led early, but then gave up 24 unanswered points for a 41-21 loss after South Carolina led 21-17 at halftime. Two weeks after the biggest win of Will Muschamp’s career against Georgia, the Gamecocks have dropped 2 straight, as he suffered his first loss in 8 games against Tennessee. The Georgia win may have saved his job, but now the hot seat talk will return again as Muschamp’s future is again top of mind with Gamecock faithful, and things like his contract buyout are brought up.
The two special teams touchdowns surrendered and a poor effort late in the game only added to the misery.
South Carolina struggled to run the ball, especially in the second half, with just 78 yards on 30 carries. The Gamecocks were 4-for-18 on third down conversions.
Here’s a sampling of the reaction:
Yeah and Tennessee is playing with true frosh RT LT (one left hurt), and a third string QB.

Every single “fork in the road” type of game under Muschamp, we have come out and laid a massive egg. Every. Single. One.

Maybe…..just maybe, Will Muschamp should have spent more time getting his team prepared for Tennessee and less time bitching about officials 🤷🏼♂️

Will Muschamp just asked for a job on my youth football team’s coaching staff. I said no.

Yeah, Shi, we feel the same way about Muschamp. #Gamecocks pic.twitter.com/36KXwk3LvM

I’ve never been more confused about a team than I am with this Gamecocks team.

Worst performance I have witnessed since the 0-21 streak of the late 90’s! Outside of maybe 5-6 players, the staff and other players should be ashamed of the crap they just demonstrated!!!

41-21 as Tennessee re-takes the ball. 9:21 to go. Feels much longer.
Gamecocks have to re-examine everything after tonight, which is difficult to do after Game 8. They have been awful in every phase this game.

They won’t re-examine anything. It will be the same shit next week. Just like it has been since muschamp got here.

Maybe we should re-examine the coaching hire….
