It started off great, and then crumbled from there.

South Carolina fans grew increasingly frustrated with the Gamecocks after they led early, but then gave up 24 unanswered points for a 41-21 loss after South Carolina led 21-17 at halftime. Two weeks after the biggest win of Will Muschamp’s career against Georgia, the Gamecocks have dropped 2 straight, as he suffered his first loss in 8 games against Tennessee. The Georgia win may have saved his job, but now the hot seat talk will return again as Muschamp’s future is again top of mind with Gamecock faithful, and things like his contract buyout are brought up.

The two special teams touchdowns surrendered and a poor effort late in the game only added to the misery.

South Carolina struggled to run the ball, especially in the second half, with just 78 yards on 30 carries. The Gamecocks were 4-for-18 on third down conversions.
