What Will Muschamp said about South Carolina's disappointing loss to Florida
South Carolina fell to 0-2 on Saturday with a disappointing loss at Florida as the Gamecocks struggled to contain the high-powered Gators offense, and were plagued by dropped passes themselves.
South Carolina got two turnovers and controlled the time of possession, but a slow-moving drive to end the game didn’t produce any points and the Gamecocks fell to 0-2, with a 38-24 loss. They play Vanderbilt next week.
Dropped passes were a problem in the first half, and two early second-half Florida touchdowns were too much for the Gamecocks to overcome.
Here’s a sampling of what Muschamp told reporters after the game.
Will Muschamp: Says the deliberate pace on the final drive was Florida taking away a lot of the potential deep shots. Had to stay on the field at all costs.
Could have played at a crisper pace especially with four minutes to go but had to play for the TD and onside.

Muschamp says it wasn’t “deliberate” to have that pace on the final drive. Says they were just focused on getting first downs and taking what the defense was giving them. Went on to say they were saving their timeouts & aiming for an onside kick. @wachfox
