What Will Muschamp said after South Carolina's 30-22 win over Auburn
In a game when South Carolina was down two defensive backs, the Gamecocks got a huge game from Jaycee Horn to know off Auburn, 30-22.
Coach Will Muschamp noted Horn’s performance as the Gamecocks used touchdowns off of three interceptions to pull away from the Tigers and hold off a late charge. Without Israel Mukuamu and Cam Smith, Horn and John Dixon shouldered much of the defensive load in the secondary as South Carolina held up against Auburn’s passing attack.
This was a notable win as it was South Carolina’s first win over Auburn since 1933, and just second overall. Muschamp improved to 3-15 against ranked teams at South Carolina.
Here are comments from Muschamp after the game:
Will Muschamp on Jaycee Horn: “If there’s a better corner, I want to meet him … very happy for him.” #Gamecocks

Will Muschamp: “That was a helluva win, that was a helluva football team. Our guys fought their ass off. They kept hanging in there regardless of the situation. We needed to win a game like this.”

Will Muschamp says people don’t fully understand what Keir Thomas went through last year with the infection after surgery, but he just kept fighting. Adds that he doesn’t want to get into it, but there was a COVID situation last week when he missed the game #Gamecocks

How does Will Muschamp handle Shi Smith’s propensity for trash talk after the play? “I’d rather say whoa than giddy up.”
