Will Muschamp after loss to Texas A&M: 'I plan on taking this program, really, where it hasn't been before'
South Carolina dropped to a disappointing 4-7 on Saturday night with a loss to Texas A&M.
Now, with only a game against rival Clemson remaining on the schedule, the Gamecocks and coach Will Muschamp are staring 4-8 in the face, which would be very disappointing for the fan base.
However, after Saturday’s loss, Muschamp retained his confidence, saying he’s the guy who will take the Gamecocks to new heights:
Muschamp: I plan on taking this program, really, where it hasn’t been before. I appreciate the support in a very trying time. But the support’s never changed for me.

Muschamp got a vote of confidence from South Carolina administration, but that could always change.
Will he still be with the team in 2020 and beyond? It could turn into a long offseason in South Carolina, especially if the Gamecocks are blown out by Clemson.
Funny in so many ways.
I see that Will.
Muschamp starting to sound like Chad Morris. Delusional.
You go Will!
Yes Will, please go! Go anywhere but here.
As I recall when Steve Spurrier coached the Gamecocks, his teams recorded a record of 11 Wins & 2 Losses for three(3) consecutive years. Will Muschamp failed at Florida and has mkiserably failed at South Carolina. Losing by 24 points to A & M. ? The Gamecocks do not even compete anymore.
Mediocrity, yes…he can accomplish that. He over-practices his players greatly=too many injuries(note” Florida and South Carolina injury patterns). As a Head coach=A TOTAL FAILURE AT TWO(2) SEC SCHOOLS. If he does not get fired after Clemson destroys ’em….Ray Tanner(AD) will be shown the door first and Will’s next. Behind the scenes, the groundwork has been planned and laid. GOODBYE WILL & GOOD RIDDANCE. You will not be a head coach, ever again…thank goodness. No school deserves that. What a horrible hire…nobody else wanted him.
I’ll take the HC from Memphis. Just sayin Ray.
Only place it has never been is an undefeated season (not happening) and, ironically a 2 win season during the modern era. Zero wins and one win are covered, along with 3, and this year’s 4 win season.
So we are shooting for a 2 win season now?
We’ve seen 21 straight losses trying for 22?

That’s failures off the top of my head I’m sure theres more. The picture is this is an absolute disgrace. I’ve gone for the hat trick I don’t care about basketball, baseball or even football, thanks Tanner for screwing that enjoyment up.
cola_cock…You have about covered it all….all I can add is why would any AD hire a guy, whose temper is out-of-control on his good days, but on game days…Oh my ! If Tanner does not fire this failure, The S.C. President needs to fire ’em both(Tanner & Muschamp). One thing that I know is that the loyal Gamecock Fans deserve better, much better. At leas ta coach that’ll give the team a chance-to-win. Gamecock Fans have stuck with the program through thick-n-thin and need to hold their heads up again. They need a coach that will at least give them HOPE.
Dang, chunk in a partridge in a pear tree and you got ’em all!!
Wow, I feel even worse about Neverchamp after reading this. Sad but true. I loathe him and Tanner for putting us where we are now.
I forgot one more thing. We are on one year PROBATION in YEAR 4 for Lance Thompson sorry selfish self.
If we could all be so lucky…be below average at your job and make millions…if he gets fired…he’ll collect big time from SC..then someone will hire him to coach their defense…he’ll get a nice salary for that..or take a year off and sit on the beach…it must be nice…
Give the guy some credit, he stopped the losing streak to UK.
He has no clue. He is in over his head and he is spewing foolishness outta his mouth. I think a majority of the fan base has come to realize Muschamp is not the answer. Why in the world would Tanner choose to keep him on? If you fire him and move on, we have something to look forward to over the off season. If you choose to keep him, we will only look forward to doom and gloom for next year. He was a terrible hire. Realize it and move on.
Muschamp’s head is the clouds created by his own arrogance. He absolutely defies the Star-Ranking process, saying that “he knows more than they do.” He has led himself to believe that he can develop 4 and 5-star-caliber talent on the offensive line out of 2 and 3-star (FCS)-caliber talent. He also suffers from the delusion that 4 and 5-star skill-position players can succeed and execute behind these 2-star (advanced high school) players on the O-line. All of the problems with this offense begins with upfront and with Muschamp’s inability to see it. As he continues to shuffle this line, in an attempt to find the right combination, from one week to the next, he continues to sing the same song every week, after every loss. It’s become ‘boiler-plate’. All that is new is the name of the we lost to. In a letter to President Pastides and Ray Tanner 2 years ago, I told them that ‘bowl-ineligibility was inevitable under Muschamp within a couple of years. I hate to say I told you so!
