Will Muschamp announces South Carolina’s starting QB for Florida game
Earlier this week, South Carolina coach Will Muschamp made it seem that quarterback Ryan Hilinski would be fine to play on Saturday against Florida. And that has turned out to be the case.
On Thursday, Muschamp confirmed that Hilinski will start for the Gamecocks at home against the Gators.
“Ryan was limited on Tuesday but he took every snap Wednesday and [Thursday]. He’s fine and he’ll start the game,” Muschamp said, according to Wes Mitchell of GamecockCentral.com.
Last Saturday, Hilinski went 15-for-20 for 116 yards and a touchdown in South Carolina’s road matchup at Georgia. However, he left during that game with a knee injury. Dakereon Joyner took over at quarterback and helped the Gamecocks notch a double-overtime victory over the Bulldogs.
It’s important that South Carolina has Hilinski healthy, as it’s already without starter Jake Bentley, who is out for the rest of the season.
In five games, Hilinski has passed for 1,028 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions.
The Gamecocks and Gators are set to kick off on Saturday at noon ET on ESPN.
Glad to hear he’s recovered. That second hit to his leg looked bad.
Now, you guys steamroll on Saturday!
Glad to hear the injury wasn’t serious.
So a Ryan Hilinski with one good leg means they’ll now steamroll? Are we really trying to act like he’s going to be 100%? He couldn’t put any weight on it last game and had to be held up on the sideline the rest of the game. I know one thing, that defense is going to be licking their chops knowing he’s probably not going to be that mobile, especially with how embarrassed they were last game. I guess we’ll see soon who’s doing the steamrolling.
Glad that he will be okay, but I am still not buying that he’s starting tomorrow. According to Muschamp, Jeff Driskel was going to start at LSU in 2011 and he announced 5 minutes before kickoff that it would be Jacoby Brissett.
Hilinski is getting babied too much. His mom is like all over him and who is the guy on the sidelines who can’t keep his hands off of him? Weird.
There it is.
Do you not understand his family situation even at all? In that light, come on, man.
Glad the kid can go.
Dang, now I’m wishing I’d pulled the trigger on the upset pick!
Go Gamecocks!
(nothing against UF, just for SEC East positioning reasons)
Huh?
