Will Muschamp gives big hugs to former players after Georgia's win over South Carolina
Will Muschamp, the former South Carolina head coach and current Georgia co-defensive coordinator, spoke with some of his former players after the Bulldogs’ 24-14 win over the Gamecocks on Saturday.
The well-traveled coach served as head man in Columbia from 2016-2020, posting a 28-30 record over that span and appearing in 3 bowl games.
Will Muschamp: “When you going to be Governor?”
Dakereon Joyner: “S*** whenever”?

Muschamp, who has always been a coach that is beloved by his players, was greeted by multiple of his former players and staffers after the game.
As seen in the video, the first was running back Dakereon Joyner, who played under Muschamp in 18, ’19, and ’20 and is now a sixth-year player. Offensive lineman Tyshawn Wannamaker was next, who played under Muschamp in ’20. Lastly, defensive tackle Alex Huntley — who also played under Muschamp in ’20 — greeted the coach.
Very classy.
Agreed, I actually hated to see Muschamp go, he just couldn’t find a decent OC.
Will Muschamp is a good dude who clearly cares about his kids.He enjoys coaching them and they enjoy playing for him. People whose teams he coach for seem to poke at him for how he coached their teams . But it’s not as if he wanted to fail. He’s still coaching and hopefully he will get another shot at a head gig one day and it will work out for him.
He’s a POS
Screw muttchump what that scumbag did on the way out was unforgivable. He ran this program into the ground.
Last time SC was able to run the ball, and stop the run….Muschamp was coach.
Muschamp is the classic example of an outstanding coordinator but leaves a lot to be desired as a head coach
Can’t argue that he’s an effective Defensive Coordinator
His defenses were only good when he had elite talent and he was riding the coat tails of Nick Saban, Mack Brown and Kirby Smart.
Dude,
Muschamp left UF loaded with defensive talent, enough that McElwain won SECE titles with Muschamp defensive recruits. As soon as Muschamps recruits were gone UF imploded and McElwain was fired midseason.
Muschamp also recruited Will Grier to UF and McElwain screwed the pooch and ran the kid off.
As noted Muschamp is a defensive genius and a top recruiter, he’s just not wired to be a HC.
Will’s a talented Defensive Coordinator and a horrible head coach.
Note: His W/L records at Florida & South Carolina & how bad shape he left the program.
I disagree. When Will left, he left SC with Marshawn, who has since transferred, but probably would still be at SC if Will was there. Muschamp had RB’s. Beamer has converted QB’s and Div.2 RB’s. SC is dead last in the running game out of 133 teams. That is a feat even Muschamp could not accomplish. Muschamp had a defensive line that could stop the run. Beamer will probably finish last in the SEC in run defense again. Muschamp may have had his faults, but he did not leave the program in bad shape. You take away SC’s stellar QB, and the talent was probably better under Muschamp.
Will wasn’t the problem, his loyalty to bum OC’s like Roper, McClendon and Bobo was his downfall.
I don’t think he’ll be a HC again anytime soon.
I get it, trying to take over 2 programs as HC after both have had the best runs of their entire existence (Meyer-Florida, Spurrier-SC) is a difficult position to be in.
He has a gift for recruiting, defensive scheme, squandering offensive talent, and very poor staff management.
With how his career has gone so far, I don’t think he would leave UGA even if offered another HC position.
I liked Muschamp – it just didn’t work out.
Ha cares about his players. UGA should let him be the HC.
F*”k will muschamp. Thief got paid 3+million to beat Charleston Southern.
