The South Carolina Gamecocks are gearing up for their season opener against NC State on Saturday, but there are still a few questions facing coach Will Muschamp’s squad.

The Wolfpack are no pushovers, so the Gamecocks are going to have to come out firing if they want to win their first game.

On Tuesday, Muschamp spoke with 247Sports and addressed three areas of concern he has heading into this season. He said he’s worried about how new starters on defense will fare, how the offensive line will handle NC State’s front seven and how the team’s specialists will perform:

“Well I think anytime you have newcomers defensively playing some critical snaps for us and how they’re going to respond you never know,” Muschamp said. “I think there are a lot of knowns offensively. I think we have made improvements in our offensive line and they have to block a very good front. We’ll find out how far we’ve come on Saturday. We have new specialists across the board so just to quickly broad stroke those are some areas of concern for me.”

Coming off a 6-7 record in 2016, it’ll be important for the Gamecocks to answer those questions quickly to avoid going 0-1 to start this season.

Saturday’s game will take place in Charlotte and kicks off at 3 p.m. Eastern time and can be seen on ESPN.
