South Carolina is a heavy underdog this week at No. 3 Georgia, but the Gamecocks should be healthier coming out of a bye week.
RB Rico Dowdle, who suffered an ankle injury late in the Kentucky game, will be ready, but the Gamecocks won’t know about backup QB/WR Dakereon Joyner until Tuesday, coach Will Muschamp said on his media teleconference, according to David Cloninger and Josh Kendall. Joyner missed the UK game with a hamstring injury.
OL Dylan Wonnum is still another 2-3 weeks away, Muschamp said.
The coach was also asked about QB Ryan Hilinski after he missed practice time before the Missouri game with a reported sore elbow.
“Ryan’s fine,” Muschamp said. “He hasn’t missed a rep other than the practice for the Missouri game. He had a good open date. I think he’s progressed extremely well and worked extremely hard.”
Georgia has won four straight in this series, including last year’s 41-17 decision in Columbia. The Bulldogs are a 25-point favorite after they dispatched of Tennessee on Saturday, 43-14. The game is set to kick off at noon Eastern on ESPN from Athens.
