Bryan Edwards had knee surgery following the Texas A&M game that he didn’t play in, though he did make the trip with his team to College Station for that game. Leading up to the Clemson game, there is hope that Edwards can finish his Gamecock career on the field.

Coach Will Muschamp said Edwards was “questionable” for the game after about a week ago, he said he was “doubtful.” Edwards did a little bit of practice earlier on Tuesday.

“Obviously is not a guy who is not going to need a lot of (practice) snaps,” Muschamp said.

Muschamp made a reference to a similar situation in 1988, when former Georgia running back Rodney Hampton had arthroscopic surgery on a Sunday night and played the next Saturday.

“It can be done,” Muschamp said.

Muschamp said Edwards hasn’t had any conversations with him about sitting out to preserve himself for the NFL. The coach said no player has talked to him about sitting out against Clemson.

Edwards is fifth in the SEC in receiving with 71 catches for 816 yards and six touchdowns. He’s had three games of more than 100 yards receiving, most notably against Vanderbilt with 14 catches for 139 yards and a TD. Against Clemson last year, Edwards had five catches for 41 yards. Two years ago, he had six catches for 70 yards and a TD. In 2016, he caught South Carolina’s only TD in the game.
