The most talked-about accessory around South Carolina in recent weeks is hands-down Will Muschamp’s new reading glasses. Not only has the school planned a glasses giveaway at the Florida game on Saturday, but the men’s basketball team has noticed them, too.

“I was going to bring mine here, just to celebrate him,” coach Frank Martin said at an SEC media tipoff event this week on “The Paul Finebaum Show” with Tom Hart. “One of the best people that I’ve ever come across. I’m so happy for him and his players and staff … Tom, I’ve gotta admit, I’m into the readers, too. I’ve got no chance to read without them.”

The Gamecocks, of course, are 2-0 with Muschamp wearing the glasses on the sideline, something he initially said he needed to do at night. But he had them for the noon kickoff and upset at Georgia last week.

The glasses are one example of how Muschamp has loosened up since the loss to Missouri a month ago, but they also coincided with him tweaking the defense from a base nickel to a 4-3 alignment.

The glasses also have their own Twitter account, and they appear to be the most popular aspect of this season for the Garnet and Black.
