ACC coach pleads with home fans to stop throwing objects on field, penalizing team
Cal coach Justin Wilcox used a referee’s microphone to address his program’s fans during Saturday’s game in hopes of preventing more penalty flags for the Bears.
According to Yahoo Sports, Cal fans were given cards for stunts to use during breaks in the action as the Bears took on San Diego State. Fans in Berkeley, however, decided to get rid of their cards by throwing them onto the field.
The fans’ actions resulted in multiple 15-yard penalties. Wilcox used the ref’s mic to address the fans, asking them to stop the Bears from being further penalized.

Aside from the card issue, things went well for Wilcox’s Bears. Cal scored 24 points in the 2nd half for a 31-10 win over SDSU. The Bears are now 3-0, picking up previous wins over UC Davis and Auburn.
Cal is 3-0 for the first time since 2019. The Bears will next travel to struggling Florida State for their first ACC game. FSU is 0-3 on the season with losses to Georgia Tech, Boston College and Memphis.
Well normally the low-lifes from Berkeley commit acts of arson and vandalism when they don’t like something, so this is nothing in comparison.
Great to see Cal finding success.
