Danny Kanell’s beloved Florida State Seminoles suffered a heartbreaking defeat in Week 0. The Seminoles fell to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Dublin by a score of 24-21.

Noticeably, Kanell was quiet on social media during the game. The former FSU QB-turned-analyst waited about an hour after the game was final before sharing an encouraging message to the Noles on social media:

Kanell is known for his rabid defense of Florida State football. Kanell played QB for the Noles from 1992-95 and ended his college career with over 6,000 passing yards and 57 touchdowns.

Of course, Kanell has a point. With the College Football Playoff expanding to include 12 teams, no team in a power conference is out after 1 loss. The loss to the Yellow Jackets does, however, give the Noles an early conference loss and means the margin of error for the rest of the season is extremely slim.

The Noles struggled on both ends of the ball in Week 0. The team only gained 98 rushing yards, and QB DJ Uiagalelei struggled to push the ball down the field. The former Clemson and Oregon State QB ended his day with just 193 yards with no TDs or interceptions.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Noles could not contain the Yellow Jackets’ ground game. Running back Jamal Haynes racked up 75 yards and found the end zone twice. QB Haynes King added 54 yards of his own on the ground and threw for 146.

Florida State will look to get back on track against Boston College in Week 1.
