UNC receiver shows off his concentration skills with incredible circus touchdown catch in Military Bowl
North Carolina freshman quarterback Sam Howell has been the Tar Heel player garnering the vast majority of headlines this season but it’s easy to see why the young signal-caller is having so much success this season — he’s got some outstanding receivers on his side.
Early in the 2019 Military Bowl, Dyami Brown caught a 39-yard pass for a touchdown and Dazz Newsome just added another score on a 16-yard reception just before halftime.
Newsome really showed off his concentration skills on this catch as Howell’s pass was tipped before the sophomore receiver managed to get his hands on the ball and tap his toes on the ground for the score.
Initially called an incompletion, Newsome’s effort was so incredible, the referees on the field missed it the first time around, the call on the field was overturned upon review — giving North Carolina the touchdown on the play.
