Deion Sanders on Travis Hunter: ‘In every aspect, he is him’
Deion Sanders sat down with Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks to discuss the immense impact that star WR/DB Travis Hunter has had on the Colorado program thus far.
“He’s him. In every aspect, he is him,” the Colorado coach said. “Travis loves the game, loves to study…he’s in love with the process.”
Rooks started to say that college football hasn’t seen a player quite like Hunter — who has played extensively on both sides of the football so far for the Buffs — and Sanders stepped in to say, “And you won’t.”

Sanders went on to say that a lot of players who have the talent of Hunter do not exhibit the same traits, citing that other athletes may “just want the story to be told” without having to work for it.
He also added that on game days, Hunter will usually send Sanders a text saying “Let’s go” around 5:30 or 6 a.m. Against Colorado State last week, Hunter’s message did not arrive until around 9 a.m., which caused Sanders to jokingly chastise him for being late. Hunter responded by saying that he knew Sanders would be tired and did not want to disrupt his sleep.
“I love him, and he is so complete as a player and as a person,” Sanders said. “Travis don’t care about no jewelry or high-price cars–Travis wants to fish, play video games and spend time with his girlfriend.”
After suffering an injury on a hit against Colorado State, Hunter is unfortunately set to miss Colorado’s Week 4 game against No. 10 Oregon on the road.
