Deion Sanders vows to make a splash at Colorado and his staff will start out with some major NFL experience.

Larry Fitzgerald Sr. reported that former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer will join Coach Prime’s staff as defensive coordinator.

Zimmer and Sanders have a long history of working together, most recently when Zimmer was an analyst at Jackson State. They previously worked together when Sanders was a defensive back for the Dallas Cowboys and Zimmer was the defensive backs coach. Together the pair helped the Cowboys win Super Bowl XXX against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Zimmer, who has coached for more than 4 decades, coached Sanders from 1995-99.

As for other hires, multiple reports earlier in the week said that Kent State head coach Sean Lewis is expected to become Colorado’s offensive coordinator.
