Depth chart dramatics: Pair of Week 1 opponents refuse to share depth charts
Even though many things have changed this year, an age-old football practice appears to be remain alive and well. At least when it comes to Louisville and Western Kentucky.
According to Rick Bozich of WDRB, UofL reported that WKU didn’t include its initial depth chart, so the Cardinals have returned serve and will delay the release of theirs. The Cardinals have reportedly been cleared to have 12,000 fans for the game on Saturday in Louisville. The game was originally scheduled for Sept. 26. UofL won last year’s meeting 38-21.
The Hilltoppers, led by former Tennessee offensive coordinator Tyson Helton as coach, have already announced that Maryland transfer Tyrell Pigrome would be the starting quarterback for WKU this fall. He spent the previous four years with the Terrapins.
Pigrome threw for 1,777 yards and nine touchdowns on 152-of-268 passing at Maryland, and added 630 yards and eight touchdowns on 176 carries.
“I do think he’s a little more athletic,” Helton told the Bowling Green Daily News. “He has the ability to scramble and create plays, but I think he’s handled our offense pretty well. I don’t think you’re going to see a dramatic change in us offensively with him back there. I think he’s a quality thrower, he’s a quality manager of the offense, and he has the athleticism to get out of trouble if need be. I don’t see us changing a lot from what we do.”
Official arrival of CFB season includes Depth Chart Drama: According to U of L, “The depth chart isn’t included. Western Kentucky has said it won’t release a depth chart so we will release ours later in the week.”
Yes, we officially have a season.
