Dillon Gabriel was injured on the last play of the game in UCF’s stunning 42-35 loss to Louisville.

UCF was attempting to lateral its way to a game-tying touchdown, but it was unsuccessful. On the attempt, Gabriel went down on the field and stayed down. Although he was able to get off the field on his own power, he then had to be taken to the locker room on a cart.

Per Sports Illustrated’s Pat Forde, Gabriel had X rays taken in the locker room and was seen leaving in a sling on his left throwing shoulder.

Gus Malzahn was asked about Gabriel’s injury after the game, and he didn’t know much yet.

“We’ll know more when we get home,” Malzahn said.

That’s not good news for UCF, Malzahn or Gabriel. The Knights quarterback threw 3 touchdowns and 1 interception in the loss to Louisville, and he’s been a dynamic player throughout his career. That 1 interception, however, turned out to be a brutal game-winning pick-6 with just 6 seconds remaining.
