Scott County (Georgetown, KY) High School’s football team had the scare of a lifetime Friday night returning home from a game in Lexington. A school bus that was carrying football players and coaches went up in flames due to what is being described as a malfunction.

Scott County’s bus caught fire in Lexington after playing Fredrick Douglas High School. WKYT’s (Lexington) report says that the bus caught fire in the rear before engulfing the entire bus, and about 100 gallons of fuel leaked out of the bus during the fire. The tires were seen smoking before the entire bus caught fire.

Thankfully, all players, coaches and the driver were able to exit the bus safely, per reports.

WKYT sportscaster Buzz Baker caught video of the scary incident and shared it on social media. Scott County’s school system also released the following statement about the scary incident.

We’re glad everyone is safe after that scary incident.
