James Franklin is not going to be thrilled with Saturday’s start.

No. 8 Penn State doesn’t quite look the part at the top of Saturday’s action in college football, as the Nittany Lions have severely underperformed against an unranked Bowling Green team that they were expected to roll over.

Penn State made a solid first impression in the first week of the season, outlasting and seemingly unphased by a nearly 2 1/2-hour weather delay, defeating a potential dark horse team in the West Virginia Mountaineers on the road, 34-12.

Quarterback Drew Allar looked nothing short of a potential Heisman Trophy candidate as he completed 11 of his 17 passing attempts for 216 yards with 3 touchdowns.

There was talk before of Penn State’s likely road to the College Football Playoff with the way they dominated on Saturday, as well as the ease of schedule coming up. That’s pretty much completely died down now with the way the defense has faltered against the Bowling Green Falcons, who look to head into the locker room at halftime with a 24-20 lead.

It is games like these that show that it truly is any given Saturday in the sport. Social media had plenty to say about the way things have gone in what was anticipated to originally be a blowout:
