Jimbo Fisher comments on Mike Norvell amid Florida State's 0-2 start
What a difference a few weeks make for Florida State.
The Seminoles were ranked 10th in the preseason AP poll when they flew to Ireland for their season opener against Georgia Tech. It was a prime opportunity to begin the season with a big victory on the national stage, but the Noles flopped, losing to the Yellow Jackets on a last-second field goal.
When FSU returned, things really got bad. The Seminoles fell to Boston College as a 16-point favorite on their home field, losing on Labor Day night in another stage they had all to themselves.
The seat has never been hotter for head coach Mike Norvell, as FSU is out of the rankings and still looking for that 1st victory of 2024.
There are many opinions out there on what FSU should do next, but how about 1 from a head coach who led the Seminoles to the promised land a little over a decade ago?

Jimbo Fisher, who coached the Noles to a national title in 2013, broke down FSU’s unenviable situation earlier this week during his regular appearance on SiriusXM Radio with Jacob Hester and another member of the FSU family, former Noles quarterback EJ Manuel.
Fisher gave Norvell a vote of confidence and pointed out the need for Norvell to avoid rushing to any decisions at quarterback, where high-profile transfer DJ Uiagalelei is already feeling the heat like Norvell.
Manuel was asked about how hard those decisions are with NIL in the picture after Uiagalelei transferred from Oregon State, and Fisher said that shouldn’t have any impact, that only what happens on the field should factor into the long-term quarterback decision.
After a much-needed bye week, FSU returns to the field next Saturday at home against Memphis where it will try to avoid an 0-3 start.
