Joel Klatt sees the Arch Manning commitment to Texas as statement by the Manning family as a whole.

The FOX Sports analyst was a guest on “The Herd” on Friday with Joy Taylor, and shared his thoughts on the recruitment of the No. 1 player and 5-star quarterback in the class of 2023. Klatt added context that Texas has a quarterback battle this fall featuring 2 other elite QBs.

“This is a big deal, and it’s not because of his rating, it’s because of his name,” Klatt said. “Because Steve Sarkisian won the most coveted prize that we maybe have ever seen in recruiting, in college football. It’s not just that that guy chose Texas, it’s that the Manning family chose Texas and Steve Sarkisian. I really believe that this is going to send Texas into another stratosphere as far as recruiting goes because every single recruit out there, particularly offensive skill position players.”

This has shown that for those types of players, Texas is set at quarterback, between Manning and the current on-campus blue chip QB prospect Quinn Ewers, among others. Klatt recalled that the last time Sarkisian had weapons on his offense, he had one of the best offenses in college football.
