Kirk Herbstreit rips Florida State on GameDay: We saw ‘the exact same junk from them’

Florida State took a 31-13 lead over Boise State at one point in the first half last weekend, prompting many to declare that the Seminoles were “back.”

We all know what happened next, of course — FSU didn’t score again, watching as the Broncos came back to win 36-31.

On Saturday’s episode of ESPN’s College GameDay, analyst Kirk Herbstreit ripped players, fans and everything involved in FSU’s current struggles:

“Willie Taggart is one of the great gentlemen in the business,” Herbstreit said. “We all cheer for him. We all love to see it. He’s trying to steer the Titanic there. The apathy right now is in Tallahassee. The crowd. The players. There’s no mental toughness right now. There’s not heart. There’s no fight. He’s trying to get everybody to pull. He might have one or two. This team is appearing to be a frontrunner and talking trash to Boise State up 21-3. First sign of trouble, they’re finger-pointing. That is a big problem Willie Taggart has this year. We heard about it the entire offseason, ‘We’re going in a better direction.’ And we see the exact same junk from them in Week 1. There’s a bigger issue in Tallahassee.”

Florida State hosts Louisiana-Monroe this weekend. If the team struggles against the Warhawks, things could get really messy in Tallahassee.
