Skyy Clark had a particularly dreadful night, going 5/17 from the field and 0/4 from 3. Tre White also had a night to forget, shooting 4/12 from the field and 1/3 from 3. Brandon Huntley-Hatfield led the team with 14 rebounds.
The Mocs were led by guard Honor Huff, who scored 25 points and made 7 3-pointers.
Overall, the Cardinals shot just 38.2% from the field and 35% from 3. The team did not have a lead after the 10 minute mark in the 1st half. The Cardinals got out-rebounded and turned the ball over more than the Mocs did as well.
The Cardinals are hoping to have a better season in 2023-24 after enduring a historically bad 2022-23 season. The Cardinals went just 4-28 last season, and had the worst start in ACC history and the team’s lowest win total since the 1940’s.
The next opportunity for the Cardinals will come on Wednesday against Coppin State. After that matchup, the Cardinals will have games against No. 18 Texas and New Mexico State. Before conference play begins, the Cardinals will also have to play Virginia Tech, DePaul. and Kentucky.
