Miami tight end announces return for unprecedented 9th season in college football
A Miami player has announced plans to return for another season in 2024, and it’s an unprecedented 9th season.
Cam McCormick announced on Thursday plans to return to Miami after he successfully petitioned the ACC for another year of eligibility. He transferred from Oregon to Miami last year after he had the 9th year approved by the Pac-12. He initially told reporters in September about his plans to go for a 9th season.
Last season, he made 8 catches for 62 yards for the Hurricanes after he started in 11 games and played in 13. In 2022 at Oregon, McCormick started in 6 games and appeared in 13 when he made 10 catches for 66 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The 6-foot-5 and 260 pounder is from Bend, Oregon and originally enrolled at Oregon in January of 2016. McCormick entered the 2015 season rated as the No. 1 tight end prospect in the western half of the country by 247Sports before he suffered a leg injury.
In short, his career has been marked by several injuries.
Here’s a breakdown of his first 8 seasons in college football:
2016: Redshirted
2017: Played in 13 games for Oregon
2018: Suffered season-ending injury in 1st game of the season
