NCAA softball tournament 2021 schedule (updated May 28, 2021)

The NCAA softball tournament 2021 is underway. 64 teams entered the tournament which began on May 21, 2021. The teams were selected from 31 automatic qualifications for teams that won their respective conferences plus an additional 33 teams that were selected as “at-large” teams to make the tournament.

The tournament was seeded with the top 16 as follows:

  1. Oklahoma
  2. UCLA
  3. Alabama
  4. Florida
  5. Oklahoma State
  6. Arkansas
  7. LSU
  8. Missouri
  9. Tennessee
  10. Florida State
  11. Arizona
  12. Texas
  13. Duke
  14. Kentucky
  15. Arizona State
  16. Washington

The first round of on-campus games occurred during May 21-23, 2021.

Following the regionals round, the following teams advanced and will be matched up as follows:

  • No. 1 Oklahoma vs. No. 16 Washington
  • No. 8 Missouri vs. James Madison
  • No. 5 Oklahoma State vs. Texas
  • No. 4 Florida vs. Georgia
  • No. 3 Alabama vs. No. 14 Kentucky
  • No. 6 Arkansas vs. No. 11 Arizona
  • No. 7 LSU vs. No. 10 Florida State
  • No. 2 UCLA vs. Virginia Tech

A few interesting notes from the regionals action:

  • A number of pitchers threw no-hitters including Florida’s Elizabeth Hightower and Missouri’s Jordan Weber.
  • Sydney Pennington of Oklahoma State hit her 36th home run of her career which breaks the record at Oklahoma State.
  • Oklahoma scored a whopping 24 runs against Wichita State.
  • James Madison has won 27 straight wins as it enters the super regionals.
