Oklahoma's crowd during Bedlam game draws major criticism amid pandemic
Many college football stadiums are allowing fans to watch games at a limited capacity, with social distancing required, as we continue to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, sometimes, the social distancing aspect goes out the window. We saw earlier this year as Florida coach Dan Mullen got upset with Texas A&M’s large, non-distanced crowd. He then called for Florida to fill The Swamp for the next week’s LSU game before that game was postponed due to a COVID outbreak in the Florida program. Mullen himself also tested positive.
For fans watching the Oklahoma beatdown of Oklahoma State on Saturday night, it was a similar story. Many shared photos of the Sooners’ large crowd, blasting the school for seemingly ignoring the ongoing pandemic.
Here’s a sampling of some of the reaction on Twitter:
I'm watching Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State football. The number of spectators, in the stadium, suggests Oklahoma doesn't have a COVID-19 problem. pic.twitter.com/MikDCVd5m4

Judging by the crowd at the OSU/OU game in Norman, there is no COVID in Oklahoma.

Looking at this crowd in Norman it definitely seems like the State of Oklahoma is done with the pandemic….but I’m assuming a lot of the ppl living in the state would say a pandemic never started down there.

The crowd at this Oklahoma football game makes me so unbelievably angry. What is the athletic department down there thinking ????

Wow…. just turned on the @CowboyFB vs @OU_Football game. Yikes. That crowd. I guess in Oklahoma, when it comes to #COVID, there are just zero f*cks given! pic.twitter.com/p3jB0Gd47M

Oklahoma beat the Cowboys 41-13 to stay in the hunt for a berth in the Big 12 title game.
