Paul Finebaum torches Mike Norvell, FSU for horrific start to 2024 season
Paul Finebaum has seen enough from Mike Norvell and Florida State. After finishing the 2023 regular season undefeated, the Seminoles are now 0-2 this season in games that they were favored by double digits.
After the vehement bickering from last season when FSU missed the College Football Playoff, Finebaum says that goal shouldn’t be on anyone’s radar right now. The singular goal should be salvaging a season, but that might be a lost cause.
“People shouldn’t be worried about the Playoff, they should be worried about winning a game and trying to save the season,” said Finebaum. “I don’t think they can.”
Finebaum went so far as to declare this season as officially over for the Seminoles:
“This season is over. I know that sounds like I’m going crazy — I’m not. This is a team we were told deserved to be in the Playoff last season, and certainly was going to be in the Playoff this year, and they’re not going to,” Finebaum predicted. “They can’t do anything right, they can’t go anywhere, they have no one else to blame — I’m sure they’re looking for someone they can sue.”
As for Norvell, Finebaum destroyed the head coach for doing a “miserable job” preparing his team. Finebaum also questioned if the Seminoles will be a challenge for any opponent this season because they are simply “terrible.”
“This season is over.”

At this point, it’s clear expectations for the Seminoles were grossly overrated after two losses in games they were heavily favored. FSU ventures into nonconference play in Week 2, but that game comes against a quality Group of 5 program in Memphis.
But Norvell was supposed to be this genius worthy of being in the mix to replace Saban
Unfortunately for us (I’m obviously a Vol), I think Bama made a really good hire. Norvell may be a feast or famine coach, depending on how his portal pick ups do. He tried really hard to get Cam Ward, and had a major drop off getting DJ as plan B. I’m not sure even Ward could save them with such bad line play, though.
The Dawgs broke them.
