Arkansas and Missouri can take another name off the board. Mike Norvell will reportedly be the next head coach at Florida State.

It is being widely reported FSU has hired away the Memphis head coach. Norvell’s Tigers defeated Cincinnati 29-24 on Saturday to win the AAC championship. Memphis is expected to be the highest-ranked Group of 5 team and go to the Cotton Bowl. The reports of the Norvell hire broke after the game.

Norvell arrived at Memphis in 2016, notching a 38-15 overall record, including winning 12 games in 2019. Norvell’s Tigers also won 10 games in 2017.

Before landing at Memphis, Norvell was an assistant at Arizona State, Pittsburgh, Tulsa and Central Arkansas. He played at Central Arkansas as a wide receiver from 2001-05.

Florida State fired Willie Taggart earlier this year after finishing 9-12 in his first 21 games in Tallahassee.

FSU has not officially announced the Norvell hire, but did alert media members that a press conference will be held at noon ET Sunday in Doak Campbell Stadium.
